I know this is supposed to be about teaching …

… but today is the first day of Spring Break! It’s in the upper 70’s here in the Land of Lakes, and we are attacking our yard. This activity is in service of teaching and feeding though – we’re getting ready to garden, and it’s all about food crops. My teaching (and thinking) about food all starts with “where’s it from” – and while wild is great, cultivating our own is fantastic too. I expect to be starting baby lettuces soon, and hope to have fabulous yellow tomatoes (my favorite for making salsa) by August. Or, with the weather we’re having, maybe by June.
